Big Bear cabins

By David Witthuhn

In Big Bear there is certainly an assortment of cabins to choose from. Everyone wants the atmosphere of the National Forest and staying in log cabins is a popular request.  They definitely want to know if the cabin is with the modern necessities or an old run down shack!  Here are two of Big Bear’s most popular log cabin accommodations.

Since we have over 1000 readers a day, from down the hill, we thought they would be interested.

First is the Black Forest Lodge located right on Big Bear Blvd in the heart of Big Bear Lake city limits. The lodge has been owned by the German born Wilson family for a long time. The Wilsons have over time expanded with constant decorating and maintaining the cabins with modern conveniences, while still keeping the true Bavarian style in Big Bear. They have guests that come back year after year and we know why.

You will never be disappointed staying at the Black Forest Lodge. They have an assortment of lodging facilities. They have cabins uniquely named such as

Christy, Gretchen, Natasha (pictured above) and the choices depend on how many quests and cabin sleeping arraignments.

They also have Jacuzzi rooms, Suites, Chalets, hotel rooms, meeting room and private home rentals too.  During the ski season they have ski packages to get discount rooms with lift tickets and during the spring they have other specials every year such as the stay 3 nights and pay for two special going on right now.  Spring of 2008 also has a Fishing special. Call for details, 800 BLK-4EST (255-4378).  Black Forest Lodge also has a pool and an on site salon and spa services.

Second we have the Oak Knoll Lodge, the oldest lodge in Big Bear Lake. They are located on San Bernardino National Forest land. Oak Knoll Lodge has 12 neatly kept cabins depending on sleeping arraignments.

The Laurence family has owned the lodge since 1968 taken over from his Father and Mother who bought the lodge in 1927.

When the Lawrence’s' first took over the Lodge it was operated as a summer only business and for good reason: there was no inside plumbing! Now every convenience is in these unique cabins.

Oak Knoll Lodge has a pool and Jacuzzi, while being close to all the activities there is to do in Big Bear.
