Big Bear Elementary Jog-A-Thon Sprints to a Great Finish

Press Release

BIG BEAR LAKE- thanks to huge community support, Big Bear Elementary School's Jog-A-Thon was a huge success.  On Sept. 8, 2006, students raised $17,800 far exceeding the goal of $11,000.
New this year was the opportunity for local businesses to sponsor a student for $100.  Many businesses signed up for this option including AJ Acosta Firewood and Tree Service Company, Cool Cabins, Spa's 4U, KBHR-FM, Stalcup Landscaping, SDP Enterprises, Summit Dental, Big Bear Sheet Metal, Brandon Beede Construction, Guaranteed Appliance, Cowboy Steak House, Law Office of Theresa Reagan-Blood, JP Morgan, Unified Market Worldwide, Airport Rent a Car, North Shore Marina, Bear Valley Plumbing and Heating, Kenais Korner, Seidler Company, Big Bear Book and Bean, El Jacalito, and Union Bank.
Other businesses supported the event by offering prizes and supplies including McDonald's, Carl's Jr., The Bowling Barn, Village Theaters, Village Pizza, Rite Aid, Alpine Slide Magic Mountain, Holloway's Marina, North Shore Marina, Teddy Bear Restaurant and Big Bear Pirate Ship.  Most recently, students earned over $5,000 at the Annual Cookie Dough sale.
The residents and businesses of Big Bear consistently and generously support the school through fundraisers such as these.  Due to shrinking budgets and declining enrollment at Big Bear Elementary School, fundraisers like Jog-A-Thon and Cookie Dough sales are essential to providing students a quality educational experience. Funds from these events pay for field trips, assemblies, playground equipment, staff appreciation and classroom supplies, which the school could not otherwise afford.
