Power Girl camp

Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley is sponsoring the 14th Annual Camp Girl Power for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 8am-5pm.

This is a special day planned just for these young ladies to help adolescent aged girls recognize and appreciate their own individuality and uniqueness.  The goal is to encourage the young ladies to achieve, acknowledge, and learn about themselves and others.  They discover what they can do and become as they grow from young girls into confident, capable, and responsible young women.  Since the inception of this program, we have seen hundreds of girls participate in learning how to develop into confident, poised, and delightful young ladies.

This year, the event will be held at The Sports Ranch in Erwin Lake.  This location will be an excellent area, allowing the girls to participate in a ropes course along with several fun and creative workshops.  Workshops this year include:

  • Skin and Nail Care presented by Teresa Ritenour, Mary Kay Consultant.

  • Fitness and Nutrition presented by Heather Salzer of Power My Health. Heather will provide fitness and nutrition tips, focusing on positive body image and proper eating and exercising tips.

  • The Recreation and Parks District will be hosting the Ropes Course.  This activity encourages the girls to try something new and challenge themselves. Team Building spirit is incorporated with these activities.

  • A Self Defense class will also be offered by Black Belt Britney Ritenour.  This workshop is designed to help the young ladies with confidence and how to protect themselves.

Each of the workshops is creative and hands-on with fun used to provide motivation and positive inspiration on their future plans.   Plenty of snacks, a healthy lunch, and tons of fun will be provided.

All Big Bear Valley girls that are in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade are encourage to attend.  A presentation to each school was provided, along with a flyer for sign-up.  Fore more information or to sign your special young lady up for this incredible day, please call Kathy at (909) 584-2801.
