What’s new at the zoo?

Relocation Progress

The Moonridge Animal Park (aka Big Bear’s Zoo) relocation efforts have been in motion to one degree or another for the past 17 years. Yes, 17 years!  It was in 1991 when our first submission of a site map and proposal was first presented to the National Forest Service Supervisor, Gene Zimmerman, to move the Moonridge Animal Park to the North Shore in Big Bear Lake.  This was prior to the current Big Bear Discovery Center even being conceptualized.  We are now in the final stages of the environmental (NEPA) report being prepared. The Forest Service will soon conduct a 45 day public review of our park’s master plan in conjunction with the environmental report.

2008 Special Events

Meanwhile, the Moonridge Animal Park remains in its historic location between the golf course and the Bear Mountain Ski Resort.  So, why not visit and see, up close, the wildlife that lives in our San Bernardino Mountains.  The Friends of the Moonridge Zoo are sponsoring several special events this year during their May - October 2008 season.  Why not consider attending one of our special events? For more details about our events you can go to our website at www.moonridgezoo.org.

New admission Prices

By the way, the park will be increasing it park admission affective May 24, 2008 from $7.00 for adults to $9.00 and for children and seniors from $5.00 to $6.00.  The Moonridge Animal Park still remains a low-cost family wildlife adventure in Big Bear Lake. We look forward to seeing you in the park!
