When it comes to fishing, Big
Bear Lake has one of the best kept secrets; Alpine Trout Lakes which is
the only place where you can fish without a license and even the
littlest fisherman can catch a fish. Recently only advertised in the
Hotel book at local Hotels, Motels and Bear Valley News. It’s located a
quarter mile from Big Bear Blvd on 440 Catalina Road. Alpine Trout
Lakes is nestled with large Ponderosa Pines, where the family can have a
picnic, barbeque and enjoy the mountain atmosphere while the fishermen
of the family prove their skills.
It is indeed like fishing in a
barrel. No one needs a fishing license, poles and bait are provided.
909-866-4532. The pond is stocked with Alpin trout (large fish)
regularly. They will clean, freeze and keep your catches until you
leave Big Bear. They have food, beer and wine.
The pond is only open during the
weather that is acceptable to visitors. So if the tips
from our fishing report do not help with fishing success, then Alpine
Trout Lakes is the next step to have a great family experience fishing.
No matter how you look at it,
by the end of the day, the family will have created a memory of Big Bear
Lake and maybe started the next generation of fisherman for decades to
come.
