Sizzlin’ Hot Music at the Big Bear Discovery Center

Temps are rising and the music will be sizzlin’ on the Discovery Center Amphitheater stage when Don’t Stop Believin’, America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey, debuts on July 16 followed by Brian Lynn Jones and the Misfit Cowboys headlining the Big Bear Mountain Music Festival on July 30.  July’s two hot installments of the 2011 Music in the Mountains summer concert series offers a cool solution to the rising summer heat.  The series is co-produced by the National Forest Association and Coldwell Banker, The Tim Wood Group.

"The music will be red, blue and white hot as we celebrate our nation's birthday and reflect on our freedoms during the month of July," said Sarah Miggins, National Forest Association executive director, "Classic rock and country are so Americana, we're proud to bring the celebration to our outdoor amphitheater while raising dollars for our restoration initiatives on the San Bernardino National Forest."

Tickets are selling briskly online at www.NationalForestAssociation.org, the Discovery Center and will be available at the event gate.  Adult tickets are $22 for DSB (July 16) and $20 for the Mountain Music Festival (July 30).  Teen tickets ages 13-18, both events, are $10 and children 12 and under are always admitted free.

Don’t Stop Believin’, DSB, has been highly revered by fans as “the next best thing”.  They have captured the lush signature sound of renowned vocalist Steve Perry and Journey in their prime. Complete with a band of world-class Los Angeles musicians, DSB remains true to Journey’s musical legacy and delivers the nostalgic concert experience that will keep you Believin’.  In only two years, DSB has played national premier venues while selling out to capacity crowds singing the greatest hits of this chart-topping band; and now they will blaze onto the Discovery Center Amphitheater stage for one hot night in July.  Gates open at 5:30pm; concert at 7:00pm.

Brian Lynn Jones and the Misfit Cowboys are a second to none, high energy, rockin’ honky-tonk original country music band with a fresh new edge. . . from Hank Sr., Bob Wills, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson to Dwight Yoakum and everything in between.  These boys have come to play. . . so, cowboy up and enjoy the ride!!  Returning favorites Sligo Rags and Scott Gates and the Salty Suites will also appear; and a new country duo, Charlie Ray and Linda, will debut.  Gates open at 3:00pm; festival begins at 4:00pm.

Parking at the Discovery Center will be $5 per car based upon availability.  Free parking will be available at Meadows Edge trailhead located Ľ mile west of the Discovery Center on North Shore Drive.  A free shuttle will be available from 5:30pm to 9:30pm.

Returning signature co-sponsors are City of Big Bear Lake, Northwoods Resort, Big Bear Lake Resort Association and Big Bear Mountain Resorts.   Community leaders dedicated to bringing quality entertainment in the Big Bear Valley.  Concert proceeds benefit forest restoration on the San Bernardino National Forest and the Peace Garden’s program at Bear Valley schools.

Bill Knick’s Café will offer a light dinner fare, snacks and soft bar.  Flo’s Treats returns offering amazing kettle corn and other delectable treats.  A beer, wine and margarita bar will be open for service offering a solid selection of domestic and import beers along with Irish coffee.     Music-loving dogs on leash are welcome.  Outside beverages are not allowed.
